Speech Support Volunteer

Speech Support Volunteer

Volunteers are the beating heart of Aphasia Support. Every single day, they make a life-changing difference to the people, families and communities we support.

As demand for our service grows, we're on the lookout for exceptional individuals to join our in-person volunteer team. Your time and skills will help people with aphasia to communicate with confidence, reconnect with their loved ones, and live life to the fullest.

As a Speech Support Volunteer, you’ll be guided every step of the way, starting with expert training from our team before being matched with a client whose journey you’ll help shape. With warmth, reliability, and a willingness to travel locally, you’ll provide 1:1 support that makes a real difference in someone’s daily life. You may be using an iPad and tailored speech therapy apps to support someone to communicate or you may be a conversation partner who is spending some focused time talking to a person with aphasia about the things that matter the most to them. You’ll follow a personalised programme designed to bring out the best in each client. After every visit, your thoughtful session notes will help track progress and celebrate every milestone achieved together.

You have the power to change someone’s life. Scroll down to find out more.
