NWEEG Champions Aphasia Support

Aphasia Support are thrilled to welcome NWEEG to our charity’s Business Club.

The company's commitment to championing communication and inclusion in the workplace brings powerful alignment with our mission, and their support will help us reach even more people affected by Aphasia.

NWEEG stands for the North West Employee Experience Group, established in 2014. It’s a peer-driven community for HR professionals, business leaders, and engagement experts across the North West of England. Its mission is simple yet powerful: to help make the North West the best place to work by sharing evidence, skills, and practical case studies. Boasts 4,000+ members with combined revenue exceeding £1 billion and representing over a million employees.

Steve Smith, Chief Vision Officer, shares:

“NWEEG is all about making sure people feel seen, heard, and valued at work. But what if you can’t speak up, because the words just won’t come? That’s the reality for people living with Aphasia. We’ve chosen Aphasia Support as our Charity of the Year because communication is at the heart of everything we stand for. Their work gives people back their voice after stroke or brain injury and we’re proud to stand with them in that mission."

NWEEG’s Fundraising Highlights

Members of NWEEG are going above and beyond to raise awareness, fundraise creatively, and volunteer their time to support people living with Aphasia - showing that when business leaders unite, the impact can be truly transformative.

  • Parliament Advocacy Day
NWEEG proudly backed Aphasia Support’s Parliament drop-in at Portcullis House, enabling conversations with MPs about Aphasia and the urgent gaps in long-term support.
  • June Corporate Giving Campaign
Employees were invited to give up something, like chocolate, wine, or takeaways, for a month, raising £1/day. This approach pooled commitment into tangible impact:
  • Broad Corporate & In-Kind Giving
NWEEG encouraged local businesses and members to support in kind, donating raffle prizes like spa vouchers, catering services, CV reviews, and more for Aphasia Support events.

Expanding Our Reach: Launching in Lancashire

We're excited to announce the opening of our new branch in Lancashire - a major step in our mission to support people with Aphasia across the North of England. This expansion allows us to bring our life-changing services to more individuals and families navigating the challenges of communication after stroke or brain injury. With NWEEG’s support and a growing network of local champions, we’re looking forward to making a meaningful difference in communities across the North.
