Workplace Awareness & Education
Workplace Awareness & Education Sessions
Aphasia Support offers workplace awareness and education sessions designed to help organisations understand aphasia, communication, and inclusion differently.
What is aphasia?
Aphasia is a life-changing language disorder caused by damage to the brain. It can significantly affect a person's ability to speak, understand, read, and write.
Did you know?
- There are over 350,000 people living with aphasia in the UK.
- Aphasia presents differently in everyone.
- Aphasia does not affect intelligence.
- 1 in 3 people who experience a stroke will develop some form of aphasia.
-
Aphasia can also be caused by:
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Brain tumours
- Degenerative conditions such as dementia
Why workplace awareness matters
Despite how common it is, aphasia remains widely unknown. In the UK, 85% of people have never heard of aphasia. This lack of awareness has real consequences in the workplace.
The truth is, communication differences are part of everyday life. They exist within your workforce, your leadership, your suppliers, your clients and the communities you serve. So you need to be equipped to understand, support, and communicate effectively with everyone you engage with.
Our Workplace Awareness & Education Sessions help organisations turn awareness into action.
What's involved?
Our sessions are delivered by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist alongside a person with lived experience of aphasia, combining professional expertise with powerful personal insight.
