Charity of the Year
Choosing Aphasia Support as your Charity of the Year is more than a partnership - it’s a chance to make a real difference in people’s lives and inspire your team through meaningful action.
Being able to communicate is something most of us take for granted. But imagine waking up one day and suddenly struggling to speak, read, or write. You are still intelligent. You know what you think, feel, and want to say - but don't have the ability to express yourself.
Sadly, this is the reality for 350,000 people living with aphasia in the UK - a devastating hidden disability caused by damage to the brain.
Aphasia is widely unknown and often misunderstood, but with your support, we can change that.
As our charity partner, you’ll help us empower people with aphasia and their carers through:
- Life-changing speech and language therapy: For those facing their toughest days, you'll help us provide one-to-one speech and language therapy in the comfort of people's homes. Our team, and our incredible volunteers, provide personalised support – loaning specialist equipment, such as iPads with bespoke therapy apps. You'll join us in celebrating every small victory – because every word spoken and every sentence formed brings so much joy.
- Community-centred support groups: Through our charity's Aphasia Cafés, you'll help to create community spaces filled with warmth, patience and compassion. It’s comforting to know there’s a safe space to be yourself. You’re not alone, and there are people out there who truly understand. Aphasia changes how you communicate, but it doesn't change who you are.
We’ll work with you to create a bespoke, engaging partnership for your team. From educational sessions and awareness talks to fundraising events, every activity will be meaningful and tailored to your organisation.
Your team will be supported by our dedicated Fundraising Coordinator, Steve Smith, who proudly shares his lived experience of aphasia - offering powerful insight, authentic storytelling, and hands-on support. Throughout the year, we’ll keep you informed and inspired, celebrating the real impact your support has on local people with aphasia and their families.
Join us in giving every person with aphasia the power to communicate with confidence and live life to the fullest.
